‘Building a happier, healthier, more connected world…one bug house at a time.’
There is too much waste in the world… waste that can be rescued and repurposed to give the wildlife in our communities much needed homes to rest, nest and shelter in. Homes for Bugs was created to raise awareness of green and environmental issues. Born in April 2017, we build individually designed, handmade bug houses from recycled wood.
There’s a lot of focus of the plight on the honey bee (and rightly so), but did you know that a single red mason bee is equivalent to 120 worker honeybees in the pollination it provides and these bees, along with other solitary bees, ladybirds, hoverflies and lacewings are so important to the pollination of our plants and the natural control of garden pests. That’s why we focus our efforts on building homes specifically for these types of beneficial insects.
We love recycling rescued wood and working with individuals and groups to help them understand the importance of looking after the environment whilst encouraging people to think about improving the biodiversity in their gardens. work spaces and neighbourhoods.
As well as selling individual bug houses in our online store, we also supply to businesses who are looking to work with an ethical partner.
Please get in touch by using the form below if you’re looking for an ethical partner for your business, and more information about our handmade bug houses, workshops or events.
